Procurement Officer (Import Division)

Department: Procurement Import

The Role

The Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing goods from international suppliers to meet organizational requirements in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Main duties

  • To keep track of purchase orders of the company.
  • To prepare purchase orders as appropriate.
  • To work with suppliers to determine the best deals for the company and evaluate pros and cons of each based on price, quality, speed of delivery and other factors.
  • To keep track of deliveries from supplier to recipient.
  • To assist the Purchasing Manager and Procurement Executive on all procurement issues.
  • To develop professional relations and work in partnership with abroad suppliers in the field of procurement.
  • To assist in the evaluation of Suppliers’ performance.
  • To liaise with local authorities with regards to importation of products.
  • To process claims as and when required.
  • To perform data capture on SAGE Pastel.
  • To assist in sourcing products all year round and selecting the best method of transportation – Air Freight or Sea Freight.

Required skills / Qualifications

  • HSC or Diploma in supply chain management would be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the field of Administrative work /Procurement
  • Meticulous & Attention to details
  • Well versed with MS Office & Outlook
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact, diplomacy, and high ethical standards
  • Excellent communications skills – English & French oral and written are mandatory
  • Solid negotiation skills to deal with suppliers efficiently.
